—Ministerial.— The Acting Prime Minister (Hon. P. ■Fraser) stated yesterday that at a. caucus meeting a vote of sympathy, with tbe Minister of Public Works (Hon. R. Semple) in his indisposition was passed. Members expressed their, high appreciation of the Minister’s capable and efficient administration of the Public Works and Transport Departments, and hopes for his speedy re* covcry were expressed by all in attendance. A rote of sympathy with Mrs Parry, wife of the Minister of Internal Affairs (Hon. W. E. Parry), whose illness necessitated him remaining in Auckland during the caucus meeting,, was also passed. Mr M. Myer.s travelled by train this morning on bis way to Wellington. Messrs G. W. Reid and W. R. Brown were passengers by the express to-day, bound for Wellington on accountancy business.' Mr _M. Silverstone left this morning for Wellington to attend a meeting of directors of the Reserve Bank. Mr C. V. Smith was_ a passenger by tbe express this morning on his way to Christchurch and Auckland. A pleasant little break in business routine took place in the committee room of the R.S.A. yesterday afternoon, when a number of his business associates met to say good-bye to Mr; J. J. Wakefield, who will leave for the north at the end of the month. Mr Wakefield has been in charge of the Dunlop Tyre Agency in Dunedin for some years, and has been promoted to take charge of the company’s branch ia Auckland. During afternoon tea Mr Wakefield was presented with a useful writing set as a token of goodwill, for which he expressed his appreciation. According to advice received in Auckland, Mr Geoffrey P. Dennis, ofi the League of Nations Secretariat, and author of the controversial book, ‘ Coronation Commentary,’ who was to have represented the League at the New Education Fellowship Conference in New Zealand next month, has cancelled his trip to the Dominion. Mr A. C. Rowe, at present principal of the Northcote District High School,; Auckland, who lias been selected by the Education Department for appointment to the inspectorate, will take up his duties as school inspector in Dunedin at the end of this month. Mr Rowe was for a number of years ini the employ of the Southland Education. Board, teaching at the St. George School and at Otautau, where he was head master. Prior to leaving Southland in March, 1929, he was head master at. the Wyndham District High School. Under .examination yesterday at North Taieri aerodrome by Flight-lieu-tenant Burrell, of- the headquarters staff at Wigram, Miss G. T. Jardine, of Queenstown, and Messrs J. Winefield, D. M. Walker, and O. V. Tracey, all of Dunedin, passed for their A pilots' licenses. Messrs Tracey and Walker were trained by tbe Otago Aero Club’s pilot instructor, Mr A. Burbidge, Messrs Winefield and Jardine receiving their instruction, from Mr D. Campbell, who was formerly pilot instructor to the club. Latest guests at the Grand Hotel ar« Mr E. G. Seeker and Mr D.
