BASKETBALL TOURNEY

The opening basketball tournament was held on the Logan Park courts. Weather conditions were excellent and a very exciting day’s play followed. The* main feature of the afternoon was a march past, controlled by Mr A. P. Roydhouse, by all the teams competing, when the salute was taken by the mayor, the Rev. E. T. Cox, who was introduced by the president, Mrs, W. B. Taverner. Tho Mayor then officially opened the 1937 basketball season. Owing to the quick fading of daylight it was impossible to complete the tournament. The teams who reached the semi-finals are. University, Elco, Glenross, and Kiwi.
