REPORT OF WORKS COMMITTEE The Works Committee of the Drainage Board reports that in connection with sewerage construction the committee will recommend that authority be granted for proceeding _ with the sewerage construction works in the following areas:—Duckworth and Stirling streets, approximately 1,820 ft of 6in foul sewer to serve Duckworth and Stirling streets—estimated cost, £1,598; Rutland street, approximately 205 ft of 6in foul sewer from the existing sewer in Cooper street —-estimated cost, £102; Highcliff road, approximately 280 ft of 6in foul sewer from the existing sewer at the intersection of Every street —estimated cost, £160; Huntley and Lawson streets, extending the existing 6in foul sewer in Huntley street to the intersection of Lawson street and thence along Lawson street to near the intersection of Ross street —estimated cost, £509. • ' The field survey in connection with the proposed drainage scheme for portion of the Wakari district has been completed and the necessary plans prepared. This does not provide drainage for the area between Helensburgh road and Wakari road, excepting for several sections on th© west side of Helensburgh road, between Shetland street and Halfway Bush substation, nor does it serve the unsubdivided land in a gully extending from Balmacewen road to Shetland street on the east side of Helensburgh road. Th© proposed scheme has. however, been designed so that, if desired, branch sewers to serve these areas can be contracted at a later period and connected to the present proposal. The estimated cost of the work proposed to be carried out at present is £5,439. . Authority has been given for the construction of one No. 1 mudtank at the intersection of Gillies and Samuel streets to take the place of an old defective intake. Th© estimated cost is £ls.
