Facing the greatest ordeal of her life, but honouring her late husband’s wish, Marie ; Tempest appeared on the stage to-night with an understudy to play the part formerly portrayed by. Mr Grahame Browne. There was a poignant moment a -minute before Mane Tempest’s entry to the stage, .when Mr Browne’s understudy uttered the line, “ How long has she been a widow?” [The death was announced yesterday of Mr W. Graham Browne, actor and husband of Marie Tempest. Mr Browne died from double pneumonia. He became ill on March 3. Both on the previous evening were received by Queen- Mary during the interval of the play.] ________
