SHIPWRECK RELIEF
MEETING OF EXECUTIVE A meeting of the executive of the Shipwreck Relief Society of New Zealand was held in the board room of the secretary (Mr E. S. Wilson) yesterday 'afternoon. Mr E. C. Hazlett (president) was in the chair, and members present were Captain R, Fraser, Messrs W. B. Cunningham, C. W. Sunstrum, and G. F. M'Kellar. A' letter from Captain Coll McDonald 1 resigning from the ■ executive on account of his having left Dunedin was -received with regret. , . . In reply to a letter from the British Sailors’ Society it was decided to make a donation of £lO to the funds of the .society.- ' - - The Union Steam Ship Company forwarded a cheque, for £ls, portion of the takings from the Orient Company s Orion when she was thrown open for 'inspection at Wellington. The sum of £l9 los, donations-made by passengers travelling on the company’s vessels, was also, forwarded. —Received with thanks.-
Several harbour hoards in various parts of "the Dominion forwarded donations toward the funds of the society. The chairman, Captain Dinner, Messrs Cunningham and W. Clarke were appointed the sub-committee for the ensuing quarter. , . The Secretary reported .that the receipts during the previous quarter amounted to £227 10s 9d, and the expenditure to £44 10s 4d.
