EAST INDIES SERVICE
SAILING SCHEDULE ALTERED The Royal Packet Navigation Co. Ljtd. advises through its local agents, Messrs Dalgety and Co. Ltd., that some alteration has been found necessary in the sailings of this recentlyannounced service, owing to delay in completion of the new motor vessel Maetsuycker. The amended schedule will, however, not affect the previouslyadvertised dates of arrival and departure at New Zealand ports, 'the regular monthly calls at Wellington and Auckland being adhered to, although in alternate sailings . Pacific ports will be omitted. This evidence of .the. company’s desire to meet the representations of New Zealand merchants will no doubt be appreciated by exporters and importers, who in the past , have been handicapped in their efforts to establish connections in . Eastern markets by the lack of a regular direct shipping service. Importers of Eastern products can now look forward to. obtaining their requirements without the disadvantage of transhipment. The Maetsuycker will have a tonnage of approximately 4,000 tons gross, while provision ■is made for frozen cargo, 1,600 cubic feet; and cool stowage for 2,100 cubic feet. The speed of the new • vessel will be about 13 knots and the draft fully loaded 20ft.
