Rescue crews worked at top speed in four widely-separated western areas to free over 100 persons snowbound. Thirty-two persons, including an expectant ■ mother, marooned since December 27, and snow-buried on the north rim of the Grand Canyon, notified the approaching rescuers that their food was runnnig low and that they feared another snowstorm. The rescuers, still 54 miles away, attacked the intervening drifts with three big snow ploughs, including a snowmobile used by Admiral Byrd on one of his Antarctic expeditions. Elsewhere seven men are missing. The searching Parties are facing almost insurmountable difficulties in their search.
