HIGH EXPORT FIGURES Press Association—By Telegraph—Copyright LONDON, February 13. Financial writers in connection with the trade figures point out that the exports are the highest for any January since 1930, causing an encouraging fall in the adverse balance as compared with December, although imports are the highest for seven years. RETURNS FOR JANUARY. LONDON, February 14. (Received February 15, at 12.25 p.m.) The Board of Trade returns for January show that the imports amounted to £76,580,000, the exports to £39,100,000', and the re-exports to £5,076,000* The principal increases compared with January last year were: s and flour £723,000, meat £843,000, cotton and raw waste £<64,000, wool and raw waste £826,000, other textiles £437,000, raw oils and fats £363,000, hides and skins £1,145,000, non-ferrous metals and manufactures £952,000, machinery £478,000, miscellaneous manufactures £439,000. Exports—Wool and raw waste £481,000, iron and steel manufactures £743,000, machinery £311,000, woollen worsted yarns and manufactures £298,600, vehicles £478,000. Re-exports—Hides and skins £417,000. The principal decreases were:—lmports—Beverages and cocoa £421,000, tobacco £637,000, manufactured oils and fats £420,000.
