THE FORGOTTEN ISLAND
MINISTERS PROMISE ATTENTION [Per United Press Association-! INVERCARGILL, February 14. “ The isle of forgotten people ” (the description of Stewart Island given by the Hon. T. F. Doyle, M.L.C.) is now to have the light of Ministerial attention focused upon it. The Minister of Public Works (Mr Semple), who is visiting the island, accompanied by the Minister of Mines (Mr Webb), E remised deputations that a compreensive survey of the island would be made as early as possible with the object of ascertaining its potential value industrially and from a tourist viewpoint. “ The Government,” he said, “ is determined to explore the resources of every part of the Dominion, and Stewart Island will not be forgotten, as it appears to have been up to now.”
