BRITAIN'S AMENDING ACT Press Association—By Telegraph—Copyright LONDON, December 6. (Received December 7, at 11 a.m.) A White Paper explains the amending Empire Settlement Act,_ which extends over 15 years and provides for an annual expenditure not exceeding £1,500,000 instead of the previous maximum of £3,000,000, though actually it never exceeded £1,280,000. The average from 1923 to 1929 was only £BOO,OOO. The average estimated cost to the United Kingdom under agreed schemes of all kinds other than development or land settlement schemes is approximately £ll per assisted migrant.
