A feature of Southland’s play was the amazing shooting of E. M'lnnes, who during the first half appeared to be able to put the ball cleanly through the ring from any position within the third. The whole team displayed neat combination, which was rather lacking in the South Otago team, which .was' really playing together for the first time. M'lnnes scored a beautiful goal and repeated the performance a few minutes later. 5-3. The passing of the home team was rather poor at this stage, the players being slow in picking up and moving. However, G. Jury scored a good goal. 5-4. Southland shoots secured and W. Blue scored, and A. Bell added one for South Otago after tho throw-off. 6-5. South Otago got the ball from the centre, but jbhe shoots were too slow; and Southland passed rapidly to their shoots and E. M'lnnes scored a long shot for Southland in ensuing play. 11-8. South Otago attacked and A. Bell scored. II- A South Otago infringement at a throw-in gave Southland a free pass, but D. Algio intercepted and missed a long shot. Southland then scored their final goal and G. Jury added one for South Otago. 12-10. Neat work by L.
