A FEAST OF SONG
‘WONDER BAR' FOR GREEN ISLAND
\ ‘ Wonder Bar,’ a musical and. dramatic picture, is to be screened to-mor-row at the Green Island Cinema. Purely from the spectacular standpoint the film is well worth seeing, but added to this is the brilliant acting of such versatile stars as Kay Francis A 1 Jolson, Dick Powell, Dolores del Rio, and Ricardo Cortes. The drama, which also has its lighter side* takes place at the “ Wonder Bar,” a gay Parisian cabaret. Beneath the even tempo set by dancing feet is the story of the proprietor, the > employees, and the habitues—a story of love and hate, jealousy and rivalry. Kay Francis plays the role of a wealthy banker’s wife, who seeks to find diversion by flirting with a dancer at the cabaret. A 1 Jolson is the proprietor of the cabaret, and sings three catchy songs, two in English and a Russian gypsy melody. Dick Powell leads the orchestra and also sings well, in addition to giving a strong lead in many of the dramatic sequences. Dolores del Rio plays opposite Ricardo Cortez as a dancer who is madly in love with her partner.
