MAYFAIR'S BALANCED OFFERINGS
Although it has several dramatic moments, ‘ Vagabond Lady,’ which will be screened at the Mayfair to-morrow, is in reality a comedy. For, despite the seriousness of many situations in which the various players are involved as the story unfolds, delightful humour is threaded throughout the production, which was directed by Sara _ Taylor. Featured in a large and imposing cast are Robert Young, Evelyn Venable, Berton Churchill, Reginald Denny, Frank Craven, and others. The_ story concerns itself with the romantic adventures of the scion of the house of Spear, one of the “ first families,” and one whose undying motto, “ Dignity— Always!” is carried to such an extremity that it is responsible for a number of untoward happenings. In • Sweet Music,’ the musical comedy to be showu with ‘ Vagabond Lady,’ Rudy Vallee, the well-known American radio and stage artist, has the leading role. His singing of a number of catchy tunes is one of the highlights of the film, while he also proves that as a dancer and a comedian he can. compare with the best. Ann Dvorak appears opposite him.
