WEATHER FORECAST
CLOUDY AND UNSETTLED The following weather forecast was issued at noon by the Meteorological Office, Wellington, covering the southern district—Dunedin, Port Chalmers, Tapanui, Winton, Invercargill, Riverton, Orepuki, Bluff, Halfmoon Bay:— The recent anti-cyclone is passing away eastwards, and a depression is approaching the Dominion from the Tasman Sea. Forecast: Moderate to strong north to west winds, of gale force in places. Weather cloudy and unsettled, with rain heavy in places. Seas rough. MILD AFTER MORE FOG. Another blanket of dense fog en* veloiped the city from sundown yesterday. Everything was damp and cold last night, and there was a light breeze from the north. From early morning, however, the thick, mirky banks of mist were driven off the land by a more moderate northerly wind, and the sun was welcome , when it appeared to dry up the dampness partially. Light clouds hid the sun ai noon, when the barometer continued its downward trend at 29.7 in from 30ia at noon yesterday. The temperature was 49.5 deg, with a minimum for the morning of 39.9 deg and no frost. Yesterday’s temperatures for 24 hour* were a maximum of 48deg and a minimum of 36deg. There has been no raia since Saturday morning.
