MEAT DISCUSSIONS
SERIOUS CONFLICT OF INTERESTS GRAVE SITUATION FOR DELEGATES Press Association—Bj Telegraph—Copyi igM.
LONDON, March 31. (Received April 1, af 2.30 p.m.) Tho ‘ Daily Herald ’ political correspondence forecasts that a serious conllict of trade interests will develop at Monday's resumed Anglo-Australian meat discussions. The battle will range round the British industrialists’ complaint that Australia has not honoured Article 10 of the Ottawa agreement. Sir Henry Gullett has already been warned that this issue will be raised, but the Australian representatives have had no opportunity to discuss it with the colleagues at Home before Monday’s, discussions. Britain is using Article 10 ns a bargaining point to obtain Australia’s acquiescence to the proposed meat levy. The delegates will be on dangerous ground, and only those who were at Ottawa and heard the rumblings behind the scenes fully appreciate the explosive possibilities of these trade talks.
