INTEREST IN TELEPHONY INCREASING
Owing to the increased local interest in telephone, Mr Collett has been wise enough to give a lecture on ‘ Telephony, With Special Reference to Heising Modulation.’ Tin’s was very much appreciated by all the embryo phone artists, and has certainly given those who were so confidently using Heising modulation something to think about! lb seems easy enough to produce readable telephony, but to produce high quality and higli efficiency telephony is quite a different matter. We will get a new modulation choke for a start! Before Mr Collett’s lecture Mr Boddy (ZL4GG) demonstrated a two-tube d.c. receiver with an electron coupled detector. This is a very neat receiver giving full band spread on the amateur bands. Every “ Ham ” should have one of these, if not for permanent use. then at least ns an emergency receiver. The attendance at the Morse class is increasing, and last Tuesday there were nine copying Morse sent by various operators" Mr Morris hopes to face the R, f. for his amateur ticket shortly, and should have little difficulty in passing.
