AMATEUR ACTIVITIES
MORSE CONTEST At the monthly meeting of the Otago brunch of N.Z.A.K.T., held last week, the chief item of interest mas the Morse contest. Messrs Harris (IGA) ami Stroud (4AP) acted as judges. About, twentv competitors took part. Most of them used the ordinary key, but sonic used semi-automatic keys. Mr Cassie (2L4.GS) was the winner of the trophy, with Mr Frame, junior operator at 2L4BQ, second. The judges’ comments on the style showed each just where faults in 'sending lay. Mr Cassia's style was described as perfect, and he is to be congratulated, bccau.se be had to compete against those who bad been operating for years. The next two competitions will bo for reading ability and for general improvement in sending respectively.
