NORTH ISLAND CHAMPIONSHIPS
[Per United Press Association.} WAIPUKURAU, January 21. The finals of the handicap events at the North Island championships were concluded at Waipawa. Results;— Hobbin and Miss Astle beat Shund and Miss Sband, 9-2, in the mixed handicap doubles. In the men’s jubilee plate, Latham beat Read, 6-2, 6-1, and in the ladies’ jubilee plate semi-finals Miss Hooper beat Miss Plummer, 9-7, 6-3, and Miss Todman beat Mrs Hassall, 6-4, 6-3. The women’s handicap double was won by Misses Astle and Taylor from Misses D. Ormond and White, 9-8. In the men’s handicap singles final Latham beat Thorpe, 9-0, and the women’s event was won by Miss Shand from Miss Todman. 9-0.
