CANTERBURY BEATS WELLINGTON
[Per United Press Association.] WELLINGTON, January 21. Canterbury, by winning four of the six matches played to-day, won the AVilding Shield from Wellington. On Friday Canterbury and Wellington had won three matches each. Canterbury thus won by seven matches to five. A tricky north wind took careful handling, but the standard of tennis was high. Results (AVellington players mentioned first) : SINGLES. . D. G. France lost to C. Angas, 5-7, 6-2, 5-7. N. Smith lost to H. A. Barnett, 4-6. 1-6. R. M‘L. Ferkins lost to T. RhodesAA’illiams, 6-8, 6-3, 3-6. N. Bedford beat H. Dymond, 6-S, 6-2, 9-7. DOUBLES. France and Smith lost to Angas and Barnett, 8-6, 4-6, 4-G. , Ferkins and Bedford beat_ RhodesAVilliams and Dymond, 7-5, 7-5.
