WAKARI SCHOOL CONCERT
Last Wednesday evening the Wakari School Hall was again filled by an appreciative audience, when the third and final concert of the series being given to raise funds to liquidate the debt on the newly-acquired sports field, was staged. On this occasion the whole of a lengthy and varied programme was given by the pupils of standards 111 and IV. In addition to numerous class-songs the following were presentedActionsong, ‘ The Chinese Lantern,’ by the company; character song, 1 The Witches,' 1 by standard 111 and IV girls; character song and dance, ‘ Visitors from Holland,’ by Chrissie Ness, Barbara Herd, Frank Rowan, Bob Guy;playlet, ‘The Cobbler,’ by standard 111 and TV girls; physical drill by standard .111 and TV boys; dancing drill by standard 111 and IV girls; piano solo, David Laing; sofags—‘The Sicilan Maid’ (Margaret Hughes). ‘ln the Valley (Tom Wallace), ‘The River’ (Noeline Johnston and Phyllis Spence); sea shanties, by the standard 111 and IV bovs; negro sketch, by Runa M‘Leod, Billy Walker, and Bob Guy; recitations —‘Tomboy,’ (Betty Tweedie), ‘The China Seas’ (Billy Horsfall), ‘Mrs Brown’ (Brenda Clark), ‘Jim’ (Russell Greenslade), ‘Trams’ (Chrissie Ness), ‘Sing Song’ (Joan Fraser), ‘ The Sponge’ (Ray Haugh), ‘The Wind in a Frolic’ (Kathleen Hollobon), ‘‘ The Motor Car Boy ’ (Harrison Lamond), ‘Washing Day’ (Margaret Hughes), ‘ Tartary ’ (Peter Brown), ‘ The Chintz Birds ’ (Winnie Thompson).
