HELEN HAVES AGAIN
IH SIR JAMES BARRIE'S ROMANCE Those who have witnessed the stage play during the last decade will receive a new thrill when Sir James Barrie’s whimsical romance, ‘ What Every Woman Knows.’ is shown in screen form at the St. James Theatre on Friday. The picture features Helen Hayes, brilliant star of stage and screen, who will be remembered for her high performances in ‘ The Sin of Madelon Claudet ’ and ‘ The White Sister.’ Every facility of the Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer studios was concentrated in close attention to detail in both human and pictorial values under the personal supervision of Irving Thalberg. the producer. Months of testing before actual filming began resulted in one of the most notable casts of the year. Brian Aherne, the English stage star, was chosen at John Shand, tho leading man; a most unusual departure in screen roles was attempted by Madge Evans, who changed from unsophisticated portrayals to Lady Sybil, the English “ siren.” Also in strong supporting roles are Dudley Diggers, Donald Crisp, and David Torrance as the immortal Wylie family, about whom the plot revolves; with Henry Stephenson as Sir Venables, the family political adviser, and Boyd Irvin as Tonterden.
