UNIQUE RECITAL
LOCAL COMPOSITIONS Musical composition is a branch of art that hitherto has received little encouragement in the dominion. Most of our students in music appear to he content with the executant’s side of their art and have not given much—if any—thought to self-expression in the creation of musical compositions. The local branch of the Music Teachers’ Association has been active during the last few months in searching for compositions by local composers, with the result that next Saturday evening, in Begg’s Concert HaU, a concert devoted entirely to these compositions will give the public generally, and musicians in particular, an idea, of what excellent talent there is in our midst. ; Several of these compositions reach a very high standard, and the Music Teachers’ Association deserve every support in their efforts to foster the creative side of music.
