WEDDINGS
WETHERELL—HAVBRFpLD. The village church of Thornton, Susses, England, was the scene of a very pretty wedding last month, when Joyeuse,' only daughter of Mr and Mrs Barney Haverfleld, was married to Stretton, youngest son of Mr and the late Mrs Earl Wetherell. The honeymoon was spent in the South of France, and later Mr and Mrs Wetherell will travel to New Zealand, as Mr Wetherell intends to take up a practice in Dunedin. M 'N AB—DIG BY-SMITH. A very quiet wedding was celebrated at St. Mary’s Church, Mornington, on Wednesday, August 22, when Lucy Evelyn, elder daughter of the late Mr William Digby-Smith and Mrs DigbySmith, was married to Duncan, second surviving son of the late Mr Alex. M'Nab, of Knapdale. The ceremony was performed .by the Rev. Vivian Fisher, and Mr Oliver was at the organ. The church made an attractive setting for the bridal party, decorated with arum lilies, narcissi, and Iceland poppies. The bride, who was given away by her brother, Mr Alfred DigbySmith, wore a lovely frock of beige lace and georgette, with a lace coatee. Her brown picture hat and bohquet of freesias and narcissi completed a charming ensemble. She was attended by her sister, Miss Jessie Digby-Smith, who wore a floral frock in tones of orange and green, a brown picture hat, and carried a bouquet of golden daffodils. The bridegroom was attended by Mr Tom Watson, of Invercargill. Following the ceremony a reception was held in the Somerset Lounge, where spring decorations were arranged. The guests were received by the bride’s mother (Mrs W. DigbySmith), whose ensemble suit was of black and white, relieved with a spray of spring blossoms.
