PRICE OF MILK.

TO TEE EDITOR. Sie,—lf “Claude Dawn man” will look at the advertisements in the 1 Star ’ ho will see that milk is being offered freely in Dunedin at 3d a quart, and nowhere in Dunedin is more than 4d a quart being asked. If Dunedin milk vendors can sell it at these prices, Mosgiel milkmen should be able to do likewise, and with more profit to themselves. Assuredly we need an outside milk company to break up the combination in Mosgiel. Anyone who knows anything of dairy fanning at the present time will agree that 5d a quart is out of all proportion to the cost of production of milk in Mosgiel. Advantage is taken of the necessity of the people to Imy fresh milk in their own district, and it seems dread)ul that a few people are able to combine and make a commodity such as milk a luxury price.—l am, etc., Wake hr, M owner, N". 2.
