COKMEHdES AT EMPIRE TO-MORROW The inimitable Grade Fields, has the principal role in what is considered to bo her best picture. ‘ Love. Lile, and Laughter,’ which will commence a ! season at the Empire Theatre to-morrow The Lancashire comedienne has been seen previously in the succcsslul musical films ‘ Looking on the Bright Side and ‘ This Week of Grace.’ Miss Fields, with her remarkable voice, her incomparable manner, ami her robust humour, downs her way .through an interesting story which moves smartly from beginning to end. She is seen as a working girl, named Nell Gwyn, who achieves sudden notoriety by hitting a foreign prince with an orange at a charity organisation. The prince is captivated by her quaint personality, and the two become firm friends. Later, when the prince is recalled to his country to ascend the throne, the girl follows him. and amusing complications arise. _ As in her previous films. Miss Fields sings several delightful songs, including tho humorous number ‘ Out in the Cold, Cold Snow.’ The other charming songs in tho film are ‘ Cherie,’ 1 Riding in the Clouds,’ 1 Love, Life, and Laughter,’ and ‘ I’m a Failure.’ The film is an excellent musical comedy, and cannot fail to bo entertaining with the fascination of Miss Fields’s personality and the numerous amusing incidents Excellent support is rendered bv a talented cast, which includes John Loder.
