CASE DISMISSED

APPLICATION FOR MAINTENANCE . Before Mr H. W. Bundle, S.M., lu the Police Court yesterday afternoon, evidence was heard in the case in which James Hodge White was proceeded against by his wife on a complaint for inaintenance, Mr O. G. Stevens appearing for the complainant and Air L. J. Anderson for the defendant. The complainant said she married the defendant on April 8, 1922. They had separated on about three occasions, the last being in 1931. Witness left New Zealand in November of that year for Ceylon, and returned at the end of 1932. In 1933 she went to Ceylon again, and returned in April of this year. Since 192 G there had been £-100 in her name in the Dunedin Savings Bank, most of which belonged to her sister, who had sent it out with the intention of coming to New Zealand herself. Witness had since remitted the money to her sister, and was now destitute. She had had iio maintenance from her husband since May, 1933. To Air Anderson, witness admitted that there was at present'standing to her credit in the Bank of New Zealand the sum of £275. She denied that the money' belonged to her. Air Stevens then asked leave to withdraw from the proceedings, stating that he had been deceived by the complainant.
