NEGLIGENT DRIVING

TELEGRAPH POST BROUGHT DOWN [Feb United Press Association.] CHRISTCHURCH, September 7. When a motor car, ‘ driven by John Charles Haworth, left the road on the way from Christchurch to Kaiapoi it struck a telegraph post, snapped it off at the ground, and finished by crashing into a gate. These facts were related in the Police Court, when Haworth was fined £3 for negligent driving. Haworth said the accident occurred after a dance, which he left at 2 a.m. in company with a woman. His partner was asleep in the car at the time, in Marshland road, that he struck a bump and the steering gear locked. He was injured, and was for somo time in hospital.
