PARKING CARS AT BRIGHTON

At the close of the. ordinary meeting of the Taieri County Council yesterday a special meeting was held to consider the position of the parking of motor cars at Brighton. The clerk read letters from the council’s solicitors , and the solicitors for the Brighton Ratepayers’ Association. The _ latter were m agreement with the decisions of the by-|aw. The desire for parking from Jones street to the bridge was also mentioned. Cr Stevenson stated that, although part of the road was somewhat wider; it would bo unwise to allow, parking from Big Rock t° Trecastle street, The Traffic Inspector considered that no parking should be permitted oh tho main highway at. Brighton. It was resolved that the by-law, a? submitted fie passed, _ The following gives the chief pojnts in the by.jaw, to be confirmed within seventy days time:— No motor vehicle of any description shall between November 1 and April 30 in any year be allowed to remain cither attended or unattended for a longer period than ien minutes (exclusive of the time actually occupied in taking up or setting down passengers or good? as the. case may be on any part of the main road.
