TAIERI COMPETITIONS FESTIVAL

The Taieri competitions festival will bo held at Mosgiel in September. With last year’s experience to guide it ths committee has revised the schedule to suit local conditions. Messrs Chas. Begg and Co. Ltd. have presented a shield tor annual competition between the church choirs of the district. This shield is of heavy pak, mounted with silver embossed plates, suitably inscribed and titled Chas. Begg and Co. Ltd. Challenge Shield. It it at present on display in tbp window, of Mr Sorrow's shop, Mosgiel. The shield for the school choirs' contest, field present by St. Mary's School, will again be competed for. Gold and silver medals ami cash prizes comple' I the balance of the p'riap list. Mr C, Roy iSpaekmau has consented to adjudicate in the vocal, violin, and piano classes. Mr W. Budge the piping, and Miss Lednore Mackenzie the elocutionary items. Adjudicators for the other sections have yet to be decided. The committee for the current year is:—President, Rev. F, J. Ferry; lion, treasurer, Mr F. Walslebeu; hoh. auditor, Mr E. 0. Taylor; lion, secretary, Mr E. J. Mason; committec—Messrs A. F. Cheyue, L. B. Borrow, and W. Campbell.
