(Received May 10, at 10.10 a.m.) The Secretary of Agriculture (Mr Wallace) to-day stated that from the present warm and dry weather the indications are that the 1934 wheat production in the United States might ho as low as 450,000,000 bushels, compared with the normal crop of 800,000,000 bushels. REPORT DENIED WASHINGTON, May 9. (Received May 10, at 12.20 p.m.) Mr Wallace, while admitting that the wheat might suffer severely through heat and drought, denied that ho had made a statement that the crop would be as low as 460,000,000 bushels, but promised to give an estimate on Thursday. CANADIAN ACREAGE OTTAWA, May 9. (Received'May 10, at 12.20 p.m.) The Bureau of Statistics announced a reduction of 2,112,800 acres, or 8 per cent, in the spring wheat area compared with 1933.
