ST. GLAIR LADIES' CLUB Ml-s M'Carlh.v won .tlite St. Clair Ladies’ Club championship oil Wednesday by defeating Jits C. B, Wight 5 and 4. 3.1 fs M‘Cariiiy, playing steadily, iVas out iii 40 to Mrs Wight’s 45, and was 4. up at the turn. -Mrs Wight made determined efforts to reduce the lead, but Mrs McCarthy, who was putting with deadly accuracy, never let tip. The first and second holes were halved in 5 and 3 respectively, Mrs M'Carthy winning the third in 6 to 7. The fourth, fifth, and sixth holes were, halved in 5,5, 4, and Mrs M'Carthv won the seventh in 4 to 5, the eighth in sto 7, and the ninth in 3to 4. The tenth and eleventh were halved in (1 and 5 respectively, Mrs M'Carthy winning Promontory with G to Mrs Wight’s ,7. Old Nick was halved in 5, leaving Sirs M'Carthy domic 5. Mrs Wight made a bold attempt to keep tile game alive, as she Was on the edge of Sea View iii 3, ahd Mrs M'Carthy Was not on With her fourth. However, Mrs' Wight failed to sink the putt for a win, and a halt in G’s resulted, giving Mrs M'Carthy the match and the chain* pioilsliip by 5 up and 4 to play. Oli Tuesday last a medal match was played, the' senior event being Won by Mrs Taylor, 82—10—72, and the junior by Mrs W. T. Smellic, 110—30—74. Next Tuesday the silver and bronze medal match will be played, and a C grade match commencing at 11 a.in.
