MISSING DEERSTALKERS LOCATED

INTENSIVE SEARCH SUCCEEDS [Per United Press Association.| INVERCARGILL, May 1. A report received this evening indicated that the missing deer stalkers, W. Aloore aud-F. Davis, who had been lost since Sunday in the Lilburne Valley, had been located. It was stated that all the search parties had returned with the exception of three men. it had been arranged that- if the youths were found two shots would be fired, and as all the parties bouitl the shots it is believed that the three men now out are with Moore and Davis./ Another party set out this evening from Mr Struan Gardner’s homestead at Glifdcn. and it will make for the locality from which the shots were heard, it should reach there early in the morning, and it is expected that the missing pair will have been brought out by mid-day. The three men who are believed to have found the youths carried provisions, but it is not known whether they had any extra clothing. An intensive search was conducted to-day. One of the Southland Aero Club’s planes was also engaged. A report from Tuataperc stated that Pilotinstructor Smith had observed smoke between the head of tho Lilburne Valley and the Mussel Beach sawmill at a distance of about eight miles from the coast. The pilot was unable to distinguish more than the smoke, but, believing it to have come from a fire lit by the missing stalkers, ho dropped a billy containing chocolate and other food so that it would land as near as possible to the spot. There is good reason to believe that the fire had been kindled by the missing youths, since there is no knowledge of'other stalkers being in the locality. Returning to the base, the pilot took with him as a passenger on a further flight over the valley, Air T. Clark, of Otautau, an experienced hushman. The object of this flight was to indicate to Mr Clark tho site of tho fire, so that he could lead a search party.
