AUSTRALIAN TEAM’S VISIT TERMS UNSATISFACTORY [Per United Press Association.] WELLINGTON, May 1. ALuch criticism of a letter received from the Australian Football Association concerning the proposed tour of New Zealand was voiced Jsy members of the Council of the New Zealand Football Association to-night. The letter stated that, in view of the decision of the annual meeting of the Tour Committee, the Australian Association could not recommend to the States that the tour take place unless a definite offer was received, which would reasonably guarantee the costs of assembling, dispersal, and equipment. The terms suggested were: 10 per cent, of the gross gates, with - a maximum of £“200, or, alternatively. 50 per' cent, of the net profits, with a minimum of. £l5O. _ . It was pointed out to-night that New Zealand last year had incurred great expense in paying its own assembly charges, and had looked to this coming tour for reimbursement. “ In the present financial position of the country.” said the Chairman (Air B. L. Sahnond), “It is very dubious whether we should t,ikc the tour on these terms.” Members were agreed that it should he pointed out to the Australian Association that it had failed to fulfil the obligations it had entered into when it promised that if Now Zealand sent a team over last year it would reciprocate this year. A motion was passed that the Australian Association bo asked to keep to the terms of the previous agreement, and failing this, the council would not consider the tour this year. A letter was received, from the Otago Association issuing a challenge for the F.A. Trophy. A challenge was also received from Wellington. It was decided that Otago should play the first match against the holders, Auckland. , It was agreed that steamer and railway fares (second class) _ should be guaranteed to the teams in the final and semi-finals of the Chatham Cup competitions.
