BAIT CUP RACE The following handicaps for the Batt Cup race have been declared by the centre handicapper:—A. Williams 17min, S. J. Mason 15, J. Blee 12, I Laing 12, J. H. Robertson 10. J. Barry 8, W. Wood 7, N. Williams 7, G. Field 4. O. Wood 3J, R. Nuttall 3J, D. A. Svme 1, F. L. Clark scr. This event, over a course of twe miles and a-i(iiarter, starting at the Harbour Board punt (cross whan), round the pile off Kitchener street wharf, thence rounding a buoy off the Rattray street wharf and back to the starting point, two laps, will be competed for this evening at 5.15. WELLINGTON CARNIVAL At a swimming carnival at the Aro Baths on Saturday afternoon r6k Plank (Wellington) won by fortable margin the 220yds tree style provincial championship in 2min 10 2-ssec. J'lie' bolder, J. C. Blakeley, did not defend his title. The 220yds breast stroke championship was retained by K. Spry (Wellington) by 10yds. The provincial diving championship was won by R. Tapper (Hutt), who out classed the opposition. . . The Otnki Surf Shield competition was held at Worser Bay on Saturday, and was won by the Lyall Bay Club. RYAN’S FAST TIME SYDNEY. March 11. At the Spit Club’s swimming gala Noel Ryan established what is stated to be a record for 500yds—5min 56 2-ssec.
