RIFLE SHOOTING
WEST TAIERI DEFENCE CLUB On Saturday the club fired the first match of No. 5 compotition, the conditions being ten, shots at 500 and 600 yards. A light wind blowing up the range and a changing light hampered competitors considerably. At 500yds President ‘ A. T. Graham topped the score with 48, his seventh and last shot being inners. Closely following him were Riflemen D. G. Wyllie and J. E. Dow with 47. At 600yds the best scores were made by Riflemen A, Fraser (45), J. Dickie, and D. G. Wyllie (both 44). Rifleman D. G. Wyllie won the aggregate button (47. 44) 91, counting out President A. T. Graham (48, 43). 91, and Rifleman J. E. Dow won the handicap button. Next Saturday the club will fire the second match of this competition at the same ranges.
