BETTING SHOP OPENED

(Received January 15, at 11 a.m.) The opening of the first registered betting shop in the city caused treinendous excitement. Although twenty bookmakers were in attendance they were unahle to cope with the rush "Of business, which exceeded all expectations. Thousands fought madly to enter, the basement at Tattersall s Club, where bets were being accepted on the Melbourne' races, as there was no meeting at Adelaide.
