ARTILLERY CARNIVAL

All tastes are catered for at the carnival which is being held at Central Battery, St. Kilda. There are the rolldowns of Chocolate Alley, and the less risky sideshows and stalls for those not possessing so adventurous a turn of mind. Each evening the large crowd which attends is treated to some novel entertainment. These are all impres-

sive, but the one given last night was outstanding. It was the reenacting of an attack on an enemy trench system. The whole performance was carried through with the same realism and efficiency which have marked the previous displays. Besides the games, the chief attraction to-night will be the reproduction of an incident which occurred during the Boer War. This war was an outstanding example of guerrilla warfare, ami one of the many small skirmishes which took place forms the subject of to-night’s “ stunt.” Another big attraction will be the St. Kilda Band, which will play a number of items during the evening.
