MOTHERS' DAY SERVICE
Judging by the great interest being displayed in the forthcoming Mothers’ Day service at the Town Hall next Sunday afternoon, the meeting gives promise of being one of the greatest ever bold in the. City of Dunedin. Mother’s greatest deeds are very often those unobserved, and in some eases unappreciated. An appeal is made to all citizens to honour the memory of mother in some way next Sunday—Mothers’ Dav. Besides the singing of the ‘ Hallelujah Chorus ” and ' Jerusalem ' by the combined choir under the baton of Mr H. P. Desmoulins, the city organist (Dr V. E. Galway) will render organ solos, and Miss Mary Pratt will sing. The Rev. G. C. Reay, a gifted pianist, will plav for the community singing at 2.45. The Rev. Ferguson Fish, as president of the Council of Christian Congregations, Will bo the chairman, and the speaker will be Mr Harry Dawson, the interdemouinational Australian evangelist. The subject of the address will bo - Mother’s Cross,’ and an electric sign will be used to illustrate a portion. This is something novel for a New Zealand audience.
It is desired as far as possible, that folk in the Public Hospital should share in the happiness'of the meeting. Those having wireless sets will be able to listen in to portion of the proceedings, and at the close, flowers contributed by the public will bo taken to the hospital for distribution.
Everyone is asked to wear a white flower for mother. Y.W.C.A. girls will be stationed at each door leading to the hall to supply a limited number of buttonholes for those without.
