SEVENTEENTH ANNUAL MEETING Members of the St. Kilda Public Library were urged by their president (Mr \V. W. Mackorsy) at the seventeenth annual meeting last evening to make every attempt during the ensuing year to bring under the notice of their friends the existence of the library, which boasted sufficient books on its shelves to warrant an increased membership, even though the library was at present favoured with a satisfactory number of subscribers. The report and balance-sheet (published in Saturday’s ‘ Star ’) were adopted without discussion. On the motion of Mr R. H. Watson, an honorarium of two guineas was granted to the secretary (Mrs E. E. Laing) for her willing services. The election of office-bearers resulted Patron, Mr E. Jones, M.P.; president, Mr W. W. Mackersy; . vicepresidents, Messrs J. Adam and W. B. Steel; secretary, Mrs E. E. Laing; librarian, iVlr J. Beattie; auditor, Mr W B. Stool; committee—Mesdames J D. Hunter and M. Caradus. Messrs W. G. Baird, A. Nelson, R. H. Watson, H. Kennedy, and F. J. Clark; Reading Committee—-Mesdames J. D. Hunter and W. Thompson, Messrs F. J. Clark and W. B. Steel.
