With Lady Joan Verney the Queen made the tour of the stands in the hall five times, and commented on the marvellously low prices. A white bag the Queen bought had a secret pocket for cigarettes _ and matches concealed behind a mirror, wdiich much amused her. Tbo Queen bought a big handbag with a jewel pocket concealed in a false lining, a stout looking lock, and miniature jew’el cases with flaps of wash-leather. Several of the Royal purchases were bags of chameleon skin.
