A FRAGRANT SOFTENER
Rose water, which is used a great deal for toilet purposes and is a wonderful skin softener, can be made at home from full-blown roses. Put a quart of water into a pan and add a peck of petals. Leave over a low gas to distil gradually—until some of the water has evaporated and that which remains has absorbed the perfume of the flowers. Pour into bottles, put the corks in loosely, and stand for three days. Then cork down tightly.
