THE MAGNETIC POLE
MAWSON EXPEDITION OBSERVATIONS HAS MOVED ONE HUNDRED MILES Press Association—By Telegraph —Copyright. SYDNEY, January 9. (Received January 9, at 10 a.m.) A message from Sir Douglas Mawson states: “We have just embarked after two days ashore on King George V. Land, where the British flag was officially hoisted. The hut from which I raised the flag twenty years ago still stands, although it is greatly weatherworn.” “ Observations compared with those made in 1912 indicate that the Magnetic Pole is 100 miles closer than formerly, and probably is now distant only about 200 miles.”
