SCHEME Of PROTECTION ENGINEERS NOW IN CONFERENCE After .many months of delay the city engineer (Air J. G. Alexander), the Harbour Board engineer (Air J. M‘G Wilkie), and Air A. AlacLean, of KVellington, are now engaged on the preparation of tho Leitli flood protection work, which the local bodies concerned decided, after the big flood of March, 1929, should be brought down; 1 .. The engineers have now been in conference, for over a, week working out the data collected in the, past nineteen months and drawing: up a scheme. It is not ‘ anticipated that, the report will, bo released for spnio time yet, but the ratepayers can anticipate with some Certainty th.at the scheme suggested will be comprehensive and'costly. One of the probable recommendations of the engineers is that the Leith be diverted from its course near the Gardens through to the harbpuKs
