ACCIDENTS AND DEATHS
DEATH DUE TO HEART FAILURE. An inquest touching the death of Margaret Elizabeth M‘Kay was held at the morgue this' morning before the coroner. Mr J, R. Bartholomew, S.M. Christina- Patterson said she lived at 8 Howell’s lane, and knew the deceased, who lived at 0 Howell’s lane. Yesterday she saw the deceased pass her house at about 10.st.ra,-, and noticed her put her hand on the wall, - She appeared, to bo ill. Witness went to her assistance, and with the. help of some men she was carried to her home. She died a few minutes, later. . Ivy Carter identified the body as that of her mother, who was 64 years of age. Witness said her mother had suffered from heart trouble for some years. Dr Evans said ho had examined the body at the morgue and found no marks of injury or violence. He was of opinion that the cause of death was coronary sclerosis following degeneration of the heart muscle. A verdict in accordance with tho medical evidence was returned. SUDDEN CALLS. , While he:was waiting to consult' Dr de Clive-Lowe in tho doctor’s rooms ;n Symonds street, Auckland, Daniel Hannan, who had, been residing in an apartment house at Vincent street, collapsed and died. The deceased, who was single and had no relatives ■ m Auckland, 'after .complaining,for some time: of pains in-the chest,, went to the doctor’s rooms about 2.35 p.m., but Dr de Clive Lowe was engaged with another patient. Hannan was shown into the waiting room, where .hewas found dead about a quarter of an hour later. ' When visiting friends in Onchunga, Mrs Adeline Augusta Spencer, _aged sixty-eight, collapsed. and, died. While she was playing bridge in _ the afternoon she stated that she did not-feel well, and rose to go outside the house for fresh air. Almost immediately she died. As the doctor, who,had been attending Mrs Spencer has given a certificate, as to the cause of death, no inquest will be necessary.
