ROYAL MALE CHOIR
Last night a group of tweuty-seyert members of the. above choir,, supported by five outside artists, presented an. enjoyable concert to tbe staff and inmates of the Ross Home,.. The choir items . were: ‘ A Roman. War Song,*' ‘ Old Folks at Home ’ (J. Haggitiy solo), '.Spin, Spin,’ ‘ Song _of the. Northmen,’ and two rollicking, sea shanties, ‘Roving’ and ‘Clear: the Track, Let the Bullgine Run,’ the: respective shantymen being Miss Haggitti and Jas Paterson. Master Lex Macdonald sang ‘Annie Laurie-’ delightfully, and on being recalled, ‘ The Cuckoo.’ Miss Effie Williams (soprano)] gave ‘ Kerry Dance ’ and ‘ May Day,’ her,..encore,, being ‘ A Thought,’ and Miss Alison, Tyrie (contralto) secured an attentive hearing in ‘ Three Fishes ’ and VI heard You Singing,’ and a recall ‘ Summer Rain.’ Piper Davidson plrfyed the bagpipes, for a Highland reel and a fling by Miss Pat Atkinson, which was much enjoyed by tbe old folk. The soloists were Mr E. Paris (‘Hail, Caledonia’), Mr T. Bachop (‘Come to the Fair ’ and ‘l’m Wear- . ing My Heart Away for You ’),', and Mr F! W. Parker (‘Old Melodies’ and ‘ House •Hunting ’). Mr A; RomenT (‘A Merry Monk’).,-Mr S. Falconer ( ‘Captain Mac’) , and Mr G. Stuart Thomson (‘ Drum Major ’). Mr Ellis (chairman of the choir) thanked the artists and the pianist, Mr Haggitt, for their’ assistance and. the mayor, Mr R. S. Black (who was present as a chorister),' thanked the motorists who had : arranged the transport. Matron Young, on behalf of the homo inmates, briefly expressed appreciation of the programme and gifts of sweets.
