UNEMPLOYED AND HALF-TIME ENGINEERS According to the secretary of the Auckland Engineers’ Union there are 180 members of the union.out of work. In addition some engineering shops are working half-time, their hands being empl n yed in alternate weeks. Over 100 men are affected by this scheme, and their wages average £2. 9s fid. The secretary declared that in the last few months there had been considerable dumping of farm machinery in New Zealand He also complained that the Public , Works Department had gone to America for top-dressing machinery which could have been manufactured in the dominior and at a lower price.— Press Association.
