(Received March 1, at 9.10 a.m.) A woman doctor, Winifred Bridge, is praised for -her heroism in the Haydock explosion. She assisted Dr Dowling, whom she accompanied below, facing risks and horrors composedly. It was bad travelling through the workings for a woman, but Dr Bridge crouched down, and was led along and fixed, up a surgery .TDOyds from the scene of the explosion and began ministering to th« injured as they struggled to her. ‘‘She was splendid,” said Dr Dowling, ‘‘She is a fine, athletic girl, and kept her head. The fumes were terrible, arid the men suffered from gas, and others were frightfully burned. Dr Bridge worked hard.
