SYDNEY OUTRAGE

ATTEMPT TO BLOW UP HOMES GELIGNITE IN DRAINS. Press AwMxistiou —By Telegraph—Copyright SYDNEY, August 13. A dastardly attempt to blow up the mansions of two wealthy citizens at Darling Point to-night met with little success. The homes of Mr Edward Resch and Mr Lebbeus Hordern were selected for destruction. Both were connected with fuses running across the road, while sticks of gelignite were found in drain pipes leading to both homes. One explosion brought down the rear wall of Mr Resell’s homo and wrecked ten windows in Mr Hordern’s home opposite. The noise alarmed residents within a quarter of a mile. A man, who was muffled up in an overcoat, was seen leaving the vicinity.' No reason can be assigned for the crime; Detectives are now investigating.
