CHINESE PIRATES

STEAMER LOOTED AND BURNT CASUALTIES BELIEVED HEAVY Press Association—By Telegraph—Copy right, HONGKONG. November VI fßoeeivcd November L:l, at 9.15 a.in.) A wireless message from H.M.S. Terapbis, which has proceeded hurriedly to tho Chinese steamer Hsin Chi, which is ashore at Tai Island, near Amoy, reveals a story of wanton destruction. Apparently pirates boarded the helpless steamer, thoroughly looted, and set tire to it, and then decamped in junks. Just previously tho Dutch steamer Tjitardoem rescued 200 passengers. It is probable that tho pirates were on beard before the steamer was wrecked. So far, the casualties arc not known, but it is believed that they are heavy. —-United Service.
