NEW SITUATION IN SHIPBUILDING. It, is a well-established fact, generally recognised in shipping and shipbuilding circles, that, since the introduction of the motor ship, tho proportion of orders for such vessels from foreign owners placed in this country has fallen very much below that which was common in the days of the domination of the steamer. It is not only that the oil engine has introduced a new situation in tho shipbuilding industry, but that, coinciding with this new phase, very vapid progress was made in the shipbuilding industry abroad, and particularly in tho development of marine internal-combustion engines. Competition, in other words, became much keener than it had been when steamers alone wore being built. VESSELS IN WIRELESS CALL.
